Verona, Italy

Our last day in Verona was absolutely AMAZING. We walked around visiting some of the churches in town before heading to dinner and the opera. Dinner was another interesting experience. Since I do not eat meat on Friday, we decided to try some Crayfish. So I got a seafood pasta that had calamari, crayfish, shrimp, clams, mussels, and lobster in it. This was probably the biggest mistake. We were not prepared for what was served to us. Let me just say seafood here is nothing like the seafood back home. Most of it comes out with heads on it and not cooked. At least they had good bread with dinner...

The opera was the best experience we have had so far. Luckily, the rain held out except for a short 20 minute rain delay after the first act. We sat in this GIANT old Roman coliseum on the stone steps and watched the best opera I have ever seen.  We bought a guide book that contained the COMPLETE English translation so it was very easy for us to understand what was going on and follow along. The musical score was amazing and it was very cool to see how the sound traveled throughout the coliseum without the use of microphones or sound amplifiers.  It was truly a once in a lifetime experience!
